Please join us for an evening of poetry, dance, reading and art to benefit 350.org, a political action group that devotes its efforts to fighting climate change.
Please note: this event is sold out, and advance tickets are no longer available. There may be a limited number of tickets available at the door. Doors will open at 7pm. If you have a ticket, please arrive by 7:20pm so all can be seated. Thank you to our very supportive community for helping us in this cause!
Readings by R. J. Palacio, author of Wonder, and members of Sweet Action Poetry Collective. Dances choreographed by Cynthia Kalathas and Lori Ana Perez-Piazza and performed by Judy Schneier, Alicia Lafranchi, Lindsay Blake and Lori Ana Perez-Piazza. A silent auction with something for everyone, fine art, a weekend in a Woodstock Craftsman cottage, and more will be held as well to further benefit 350.org. Free refreshments, beer, and wine will be served.

Artful Dodgers Presents: Sweet Action + Open Mic
Sweet Action will be reading at the Montauk Club on Sunday January 25th as part of the Artful Dodgers Poetry series. Come out to hear Sweet Action members read and participate in the open mic! The reading will begin at 1 pm. View the event on Facebook here.
Sweet Action is participating in the 6th Annual Permaculture Festival and Skill Share on Saturday, October 14th. As part of a day long event at the Old Stone House in Park Slope, Sweet Action poets are reading from their work and hosting Poetry Therapy hour. Nurture your inner poet—share a poem, take a poem, get a writing prompt. We can be found at the picnic table in the North Garden from 11am-1pm.
Write Your A** Off
On October 7th, Sweet Action Poetry Collective members Marietta Brill, Mirielle Clifford, Julie Hart, Betsy Guttmacher, Cynthia Manick, and Mordecai Walfish are participating in the 2017 New York Writers Coalition Write-A-Thon. The event is a fundraiser for NYWC, which provides free creative writing workshops throughout NYC for at-risk and disconnected youth, the homeless and formerly homeless, the incarcerated and formerly incarcerated, war veterans, people with disabilities, cancer and major illness, immigrants, seniors and many others. Reading in the Garden
Sweet Action will be reading in the East 4th Street Community Garden on Saturday, September 9th, with a raindate of Sunday, September 10th. Readers will include Emily Blair, Marietta Brill, Julie Hart, AKaiser, Sara Emily Kuntz, Dell Lemon, Cory Nakasue, Sarah Passino, Abby Sayre, and Judy Schneier. The reading will begin at 3pm, with an open mic following.

There Is Always Room for Poetry
An Exhibit and Reading at Five Myles Gallery
Poems by the members of the Sweet Action Poetry Collective will be on exhibit at Five Myles Gallery, 558 Saint Johns Pl, Brooklyn, New York 11238, from 1/21/17 to 2/19/17.
Poets from the collective will read around 7pm at the opening on Thursday, 2/1/17. The event is free and made Brokelyn’s list of 10 best cheap things to do in Brooklyn this week.
Sweet Action Anthology in Art Auction
Benefit for Standing Rock
Sweet Action’s anthology Buried Paths was in the Art Auction Benefit For Standing Rock, on December 3rd, 2017.
The auction was organized by Oliver Mak at Distillery Gallery, 516 E 2nd Street, Boston, MA 02127.
The book was edited and designed by Marine Cornuet, Emily Blair, and Sara Emily Kuntz, with cover art from artist Katherine Toukhy and features the work of many Sweet Action members including Marietta Brill, Mirielle Clifford, Marine Cornuet, Patti Greenberg, Betsy Guttmacher, Julie Hart, AKaiser, Sara Emily Kuntz, Cynthia Manick, Cory Nakasue, Mary Sillman, Joanna Oltman Smith and Shelby Thompson.

While the slammers are away at IWPS, the quieter side of Union Square Slam is taking over! Join workshop facilitator Sara Emily Kuntz as she hosts readings by her very special workshop crew! Come workshop with us, come read on the open mic, we might even bring snacks!
